Google Earth卫星 WorldView-1 顺利进入轨道

9月20日凌晨消息得知，昨天早晨，DigitalGlobe公司专门为Google Earth提供地球照片的新卫星WorldView-1，已经在Alliance Delta II火箭的推动下，成功进入运行轨道。这颗卫星将在太空运转至少7年，第一批卫星照片有望于下月16日开始传回地球。

WorldView-1卫星在与火箭的分离时非常顺利，如今已经在地球表面300多英里以上的太空运转。Google Earth中所使用的数字卫星照片主要由DigitalGlobe公司提供。这次WorldView-1卫星的研发和组装主要由Ball Aerospace、Technologies Corporation和ITT Corporation等公司完成。DigitalGlobe希望在2009年之前将WorldView II卫星发射升空。通过2009年拥有至少3颗卫星，该公司希望每天能够收集超过100万平方公里的地球照片。
